Richten Energy Expands in US and Japan, Building Southern California City Links and Securing Two G Camp Awards

From a national-scale solar façade demonstration project in Taiwan to engagement with cities in Southern California and new business development opportunities in Fukuoka, Japan, Richten Energy is taking its “power-generating walls” overseas. The company is building an international strategy centred on validation in Taiwan, market needs identified in the United States, and commercial expansion in Japan.

Richten Energy recently joined a Southern California delegation organised by the Taipei Computer Association (TCA), alongside Taiwanese technology companies including ASUS and Foxconn, part of Hon Hai Technology Group. The delegation visited Los Angeles, Irvine and the Port of Los Angeles, as well as transport, healthcare and research facilities, to assess potential applications across public buildings, parking facilities, transport hubs, shading structures and energy management.
At Los Angeles City Hall, the Richten Energy team met Deputy Mayor of International Affairs Dilpreet Sidhu, Deputy Mayor of Finance, Operations and Innovation Matt Hale, and city officials responsible for infrastructure, climate resilience and transport. Discussions moved beyond product introductions to potential deployment in public spaces, engineering requirements, energy management and long-term operations and maintenance.
The two sides also exchanged views on sustainability needs arising from the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Discussions remain at the stage of assessing potential sites and the conditions required for future collaboration.
In Irvine, discussions focused more directly on practical implementation: which public facilities could be suitable, how the city could support deployment, and how systems would be operated and maintained after installation. The talks provided Richten Energy with an opportunity to assess how its coloured solar façade technology could move beyond electricity generation to become a broader building-energy solution combining urban aesthetics, low-glare performance, energy efficiency and carbon management.

Richten Energy has completed a coloured solar façade demonstration project in Taiwan, featuring a coloured design layer, solar modules, a façade mounting system and EMS/MRV energy and carbon data capabilities. The company is now positioning the technology beyond coloured solar products as a building energy façade platform.
Following its return to Taiwan, Richten Energy secured two further awards at the 2026 G Camp Final Pitch on 29 August: the RAMEN TECH AWARD and the Exclusive III's Living Lab+ Program.
Richten Energy was selected as one of 15 teams to take part in RAMEN TECH and business development activities in Fukuoka, while also securing one of just four places in the Living Lab+ programme, which provides support for real-world validation, product optimisation and corporate matchmaking.
“Internationalisation is not about how many countries we visit, but whether our technology can enter local sites, regulatory frameworks, procurement processes and operations and maintenance systems,” said Richten Energy Founder and Chief Executive Wei-Li Hsueh.
“From Los Angeles and Irvine to Fukuoka, our aim is to turn the experience validated in Taiwan into a model that can be replicated across different cities.”

The Taipei Computer Association presents Taiwan’s smart-city and net-zero capabilities at Los Angeles City Hall, connecting the city’s practical needs with solutions from Taiwanese companies and helping technologies move beyond demonstrations and exchanges towards real-world validation and business matchmaking.
Looking ahead, Richten Energy plans to expand beyond project-based engineering delivery into standardised modules, local installation and manufacturing partnerships, technology licensing, operations and maintenance, and EMS, MRV and ESG data services.
The next challenge is to take its Taiwan-developed “power-generating wall” beyond demonstration projects and competitions, establishing a replicable and scalable commercial model in the United States and Japan.
